It’s been 10 years since the release of, “Christmastime with The Anna Johnson Band”, which makes it the perfect time to share a new collection of songs for you to enjoy this holiday season.
I've been experiencing Christmas in a whole new way since becoming a mother. Children see every moment with a level of sparkle, joy and awe that we adults struggle to. From the quiet chill of the first snowfall, to the wonder of what it must have been like the night of Christ’s birth, they just feel it all differently. I wrote many of these songs with them in mind.
“Come See”, is written from the perspective of the angels who were chosen to fill the sky with song that glorious night. “When It Snows” describes the most perfectly cozy scene. “Give Me Faith” tells of the importance of Bethlehem town and the prophesies foretold and fulfilled in the way our Savior was born. And “All That Matters” was written just eight days before I flew to Nashville to record. It’s a song of hope for my daughters [and all of us] as we move into a new year, a new season, a new day. Will we embrace the unknown and move forward in love and the anticipation of good things? And then, I included a song my Great Uncle Jerry Johnson wrote, titled, “You Gave Us Jesus”. What a beautifully written description of how Jesus is the answer to all our greatest needs. Thank You, God, for giving us Jesus.
